Tommy Persson Senior Adviser Swedish
Tommy has been in the financial services industry for the last 20 years. During the last five years he has held positions as Chairman of the European Insurance Federation, Chairman of Kommuninvest AB and the 7th AP-Fund and Chairman of the real estate group Humlegården AB. He has also been acting as Chairman of Länsförsäkringar Bergslagen. Tommy is currently serving as Senior Advisor to several companies.
From 1996 to 2008 Tommy was CEO of Länsförsäkringar AB. Business volume in the bank grew from zero to SEK 150 bn during this period, with non-life insurance market share rising from 20% to 30%, and the market share of life insurance rising from 3% to 10%. Equity of the Länsförsäkringar group grew from 8 to 32 bn during the period. The successful development of the Länsförsäkringar federation was a result of both acquisitions and natural organic growth.
From 1990 to 1996 Tommy was Senior Vice President of the Swedish Post Office. He oversaw the Post Office network with 18,000 employees and managed its banking cooperation with Nordea. He was also Chairman of Postfastigheter AB, a real-estate company holding of more than 1 million square meters.
From 1972-1990 Tommy held several leading positions in the pulp and paper industry. As CEO of Holmen Hygiene between 1983 and 1990 he built up a new international division within the Holmen Group with a turnover of SEK 3bn in 1990. After MODO’s acquisition of Holmen AB the division was successfully sold.
Tommy holds a BSc in finance and business administration from the University of Lund.
