Lars Nyberg Senior Adviser Swedish

Lars served as the Deputy Governor of the Swedish Central Bank between 1999 and 2012. In 2000, he was appointed by the Government to the Board of Finansinspektionen (the Swedish FSA) where he served for more than a decade. He has been the Swedish Central Bank’s representative in the Group of Deputies for the G10 Ministers and Governors, the Advisory Technical Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) and the Committee of Global Financial Stability (CGFS) in Basel. Lars has also been a member of the ESCB’s Banking Supervision Committee. He has led a number of governmental commissions regarding, for instance, household savings and investment regulations for insurance companies. Lars was a member of the de Laroisière Group, which was commissioned by the EU Commission to develop guidelines for the monitoring of European banks after the financial crisis 2008.

Lars was the Head of Investment Banking and EVP of Svenska Handelsbanken where he played an active role in the development of the Swedish money market after deregulation in the 1980s. He has been CEO of Länsförsäkringsbolagens Förening as well as CFO of Förenings Sparbanken, now known as Swedbank. Lars is currently a board member of NASDAQ OMX Clearing AB and has been a member of several other boards over the years, among them Svensk Exportkredit, the Stockholm Stock Exchange, Enator AB, Sirius International and Gjensidige Forsikring.

Lars is fluent in English and Swedish

Lars has a PhD in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics.
